If the reduction of the cheekbones is performed, the zygomatic bone is moved inwards, with the previous part of the bone being cut off. In that case, a shorter incision is made on the skin, in front of the ear.
Whether it is an enlargement or a reduction of the cheekbones, the bone fragments are fixed with mini-plates and titanium screws. They are biocompatible.
